Kidney Research UK and Give a Kidney
Make Your Mark
The brief
Working with The GOOD Agency, I provided PR support for the launch of the new Make your Mark campaign, a new UK wide initiative to encourage more people to consider living donations.
To launch the campaign I used the findings of a YouGov poll to draft a press release which highlighted the need for more donors and also people’s attitudes to kidney donation - just 13% of UK adults would consider donating to a stranger. To help amplify this, I also placed case studies of kidney donors and recipients in national and online media and worked with former UK footballer, Andy Cole, who received a kidney from his nephew in 2017 after suffering from kidney failure, and Married at First Sight star, Marilyse Corrigan, who donated her kidney as part of a donation sharing scheme so that her ex-partner, Shaun, could receive a transplant, to use their profiles to help raise awareness for the campaign.
I then followed this up with a letter to editor to highlight the importance of the poll finding which ran in 10 regional newspapers.
